THE KOBY MANDELL FOUNDATIONOn May 8, 2001 13 year old Koby Mandell was murdered by Arab terrorists near his home in Israel. In response, Koby's parents, Rabbi Seth and Sherri Mandell created a foundation designed to carry on Koby's name by creating and supporting programs that encourage and teach others how to use life's tragedy, trauma and adversity to live meaningful, healthy and inspired lives.
The Koby Mandell Foundation programs will provide individuals and families with the tools to translate the pain and suffering of tragedy into positive personal growth, deeper interpersonal relationships, and active community leadership. Programs will employ affirmative life experiences, relevant informal education, and emotional and psychological support in formal group discussions and informal interactions. Each program represents an activity or area related to Koby and his life and his interests. In this way Seth and Sherri hope to transform their own loss into an event that brings meaning into the world and in some small way replaces the power of one child whose contribution to the world was never realized.
