July 20, 2014 - Two more IDF soldiers were killed in fighting in Gaza on Saturday, Israel announced in the early hours of Sunday, bringing Saturday's death toll for the army to four.
Second Lieutenant Bar Rahav, a 21-year-old Engineering Corps soldier from Ramat Yishai, and Staff Sergeant Bnaya Rubel, a 20-year-old infantryman from Holon, were both killed in the ground operation Israel launched late Thursday night as the second stage of its Operation Protective Edge, aimed at halting rocket fire on its civilian population.
Rahav was killed by an anti-tank missile that hit the engineering vehicle in which he was driving in the Strip. Rubel was killed in a firefight, in which an IDF officer was also moderately wounded.
The funeral for Rahav, who was posthumously promoted to second lieutenant, was to take place Sunday at 5 pm in Tivon cemetery. Rubel was to be laid to rest at 7 pm in Holon.
